    Hi all,
I’m not at all a creative person, and the great minds here at Wordlab have helped me out immensely in the past. I’m hoping you can help me out again. I’m looking for some help in coming up with a tagline for a new business that provides IT support, business telecommunications systems, and physical security products (CCTV, alarm systems, access control, etc.) for small and medium sized business. We provide such a myriad of services to local businesses, that we are having problems coming up with a tagline that is short, sets us apart from all the other businesses out there, doesn’t use meaningless words, and that gives our customers an idea of what we are about. The business name is FlashPoint, and a we have came up with a few taglines, a few we like, but none of which we particularly think is “the one”. Anyway, they are:

    Sparking technological excellence.
    Sparking excellence in business support.
    Problem Solved!
    Empowering business through technology.
    Your business, our passion.
    Accelerate, Integrate, Communicate!

We like the idea of using words like spark or ignite as it has a secondary meaning associated with our business name. We also like “Accelerate, integrate, communicate” as it succinctly identifies what we do. However, accelerate may not be a good descriptor even though our products and services make businesses more efficient. We would like to find another word that ends in “ate” that refers to security.

Anyway, just looking for some ideas. Thanks!

Since you’re in the B2B market I think you may want to be as literal as possible, especially if you’re targeting small and medium-sized businesses (assumption). Having run a small, stressed out company, I would have needed you to spell it out for me in order for me to register your offerings. Having said that, here’s a possible tag:

    Date, Voice and Security

YAWN, I know. But I think the power is in respecting the customer’s time and needs. Love the name, btw.

@landrews made a good point — since you already have an evocative name in FlashPoint, a descriptive tagline makes sense, though ideally one with a little “spark” in it so it’s not completely generic.

    Business ignition.
    Ignite IT.
Business infrastructure for the rest of us.
    Business comes to life.
    Making business happen.
    Integrated Business Telecommunicaitons
    Integrated Business Communicaitons
    Empowering Business.
    The speed of now.
Business at the speed of now.

Wow, great stuff. This is exactly the kind of input I was looking for.

quark, thanks for the suggestions. They helped “spark” some other ideas too.

Lisa, thanks for the input. That helps a lot and makes a great deal of sense. I guess I have been spending so much time trying to come up with something fresh and creative that I overlooked the obvious to just spell out what we do. Oh, and glad to hear you like the name. :)

snark, thanks for your input too. I think I am on the same page with you and Lisa, and I love the suggestions. You listed one I might end up using!

I’m going to kick these ideas around a bit and see where I end up. If anybody else has more to add, I’d love to hear it.
