Hi, We have the Aussie Beef Steakhouse and our current slogan is “great tucker”. We are doing up some beer coolers and wanted something clever to go on them. Any ideas at all?

What does “great tucker” mean? What exactly are beer coolers? A little more background please on exactly what is needed. Thanks.

@wordsword My questions exactly. I assume this is a “beef steakhouse” in the Australian market, rather than an Aussie-themed restaurant for some place outside of Australia, but correct me if I’m wrong. So for all we know, “great tucker” makes prefect sense in Australia.

(Aside: I’ve met Ian who runs the agency ‘A Lizard Drinking’ in Sydney — http://www.alizarddrinking.com/ — so at least I know what the Aussie expression, “flat out like a lizard drinking” means. I’ll ping Ian and maybe he can chime in here on this.)

So, for a tagline, how about…

    Mother Tucker

Methinks “tucker” is Aussie slang for food according to this site: http://goaustralia.about.com/cs/language/a/strinet.htm

I do like Snark’s “Mother Tucker” but if you need a couple of alternatives:

    Bonzer Beer & Tucker Treats!

    Great Grog & Tasty Tucker!

Well done on your aussie lingo! Tucker is another word for food. It comes from Tucker Bag, a bag for your food in colonial times. A beer cooler is a container that goes around your beer to keep it cold. We are in Australia, with our steakhouse. We were playing around with something like “Stanthorpe’s Worst Vegetarian Restaurant” (Stanthorpe is where we are based.) or some play on words Rare & Well Done. In Australia, “Great Tucker” is probably a bit on the boring side. Sad, I know. So we are working on a new slogan that could go on our beer coolers. The other thought was “This cooler was flogged from the….. and then the log on the other side” Flogged meaning stolen. So much to learn for you guys! Thanks mate :)
