Hello All, I am considering purchasing the General store and bistro on Gambier Island in BC, Canada. In peak season there will be around 700 people on the island. The nearest land mark on the island is New Brighton Beach/Pier and the island is mostly mountainous, surrounded by evergreen trees. I would like to specialize in local, fresh foods from all over the BC gulf islands. Such as micro brewed beers from saltspring, locally roasted coffee, freshly grown local produce and of course local seafood. We also want to create a few minimal signature dishes and only offer dinners on fridays, saturdays and sundays with a set menu of 3-4 entrees. Local, fresh and new is our idea. Hi Holly. Gambier Island is full of great names that could be used for a cafe. Avalon Bay, Grace Islands, The Grove Road, Shawanabe Road, I think one of the best ones would be a Street name in West Bay called Taki-te-se Road and pronounced “Take it Easy” Road. Taki-te-si Cafe has a nice ring to it.

oh also the concept is a bistro/resto and a snack shack/general store. They will be on the same property. perhaps 2 different names? keep em coming! xx

I’ve been to Gambier a lot over the years and just found this. Never knew how the road was pronounced but vote for taki-te-se [take it easy]. She wanna be isn’t a good name for a cafe. For the other name I think the “snack shack” would end up sticking. Good luck.
