An alphabettery of letters? (8 posts)

    Hi all,
I am working on a letterpress project consisting of printing the letters A-Z, in 26 different fonts, using old wood type, all on a single large poster.

Some of the letters are elaborate, some are very nineteenth century, some are fat, and some are skinny. The whole point is to show a huge variety of decorative letters, all different. If you can imagine something like a zoo featuring 26 letters, each with different personalities, all trying to jump of the page, that is something what it looks like!

All that is missing is the title to be printed on the top of the poster.

I am looking for some sort of collective noun for letters, hopefully light-hearted. I like the idea of an invented word, to add to the humor, although it is not essential.
The two titles I have so far come up with are:
    “An alphabettery of letters”
    “A fontage of letters”

Any better ideas? Thanks in advance,
    Philip

    Hi snark,
Yes, a bit like that book cover.
I am in awe – I scratched my head for days, and came up with two ideas – and you did eight just like that! That gives me so much more to play around with.

    Thank you!
    Philip

Thank you to all who posted so many excellent ideas.

Actually, reading through them gave me some other fontastic poster ideas, so now I have three wood type projects to work on!
