Company Names

Public Group active 7 hours, 2 minutes ago

The name of your company should make a sudden impact, be memorable, and create buzz. If not, prepare to be eaten alive by the other companies that know how to brand themselves.

Post requests for company names as new topics in the Forum for this group.

    Hello all,
My family business is a valve munufacturing company in mexico. We manufacture valves for the oil, chemical, and energy sectors. Think industrial, think oil refinary, think pipelines.

i will be starting a new company in the US to sell our valve products. I’m trying to not put the word valve in the name, just in case we want to expand the product line. I really dont know where to start. Any ideas?

‘…a good time to go with the themes of strength and reliability.’

Agreed….but a brand is for life not just for a short-term crisis.

As a total aside, ‘Dreadnaught’ is more commonly spelled ‘Dreadnought’. The ‘naught’ form is more accurately derived from the Old English but the ‘nought’ form is more usually used as the number meaning ‘zero’.
In that sense ‘Dreadnaught’ would be more accurate than ‘Dreadnought when used as a term for a battleship, but usage is the other way about .

(Incidentally, neither version of ‘naught’ is widely used in the US).

‘Naught’is also closely related to ‘Naughty’ – as in a ‘naughty child’ is a child who is worth nothing.
