Company Names

Public Group active 42 minutes ago

The name of your company should make a sudden impact, be memorable, and create buzz. If not, prepare to be eaten alive by the other companies that know how to brand themselves.

I am working to open a new jewelry store in south Florida and need a good name. We do not want to go with the standard last name of the founders, but are not very creative in coming up with names.

We are going to feature pieces that differ from the standard store such as antique/estate pieces, unique pieces from local artists, and custom made pieces from a large inventory of loose diamonds and gems. We will also be a reseller of premium used watches such as Rolex.

Our store experience will be “warm” as opposed to the sterile, cold feel of most jewelry stores. We would like the feeling to be classic but cool for people looking for a non-cookie cutter experience.

Would love everyone’s feedback for a name.

    Thanks!

Diamonds is such a strong word, as it evokes not just the stone itself but really good treasures of all sorts (like Rolex, for example). I also like your description of making pieces from ‘loose diamonds and gems’. This suggests freedom of design and thinking. It’s strong. I would try and leverage this.

    Loose Diamonds
    Diamonds on the Loose

As an alternative, maybe use a word that has a strong general meaning, a specific meaning for gems and a twist on a common phrase…

    Sheer Brilliants

I have visions of all those loose diamonds….I hope you have stellar security to protect your stock! Your description reminds me of the classiest (clothing) consignment stores I’ve visited, where the atmosphere is eclectic, there is a sense of color, ordered clutter, oriental carpets, royal reds, purples and golds, beads and incense.

I imagine a catered customer up on her stool at the counter, being shown various designs, flipping through a catalogue, or even shown a sketch as she talks about what she wants. Kind of like an upscale tattoo parlour where the ornament is loaded with meaning.

How about “Gem Uru”? (Uru is swahili for diamond)
