Company Names

Public Group active 6 hours, 28 minutes ago

The name of your company should make a sudden impact, be memorable, and create buzz. If not, prepare to be eaten alive by the other companies that know how to brand themselves.

Post requests for company names as new topics in the Forum for this group.

Seeking company name for new business.

Positioning: For affluent, progressive minded consumers and residential homebuilders seeking the most sophisticated expression of outdoor landscapes. This company is the leader of innovative, comprehensive landscape architecture services symbiotic with the diverse environments of the west.

What’s hard is crafting a name that relates to our core consumers target (45-60 female, affluent) and the residential homebuilder (homes are $650,000+). Yin/Yang balance needed.

Have some forerunners, but not quite there with our list.

Any help you could provide would be just awesome.

    Thank you!

    Utopia Parkway

References include Joseph Cornell and an album by the band Fountains of Wayne. It is a street in Queens, NYC. “Parkway” is a nice way to connote a “sophisticated expression of outdoor landscapes”.

    Thanks everyone for your efforts.

After the first round with the client they liked word combos like “in.telligent” or “in.site” (which is being used by another company). They want to focus the design (and innovation) versus the landscapes. We’re countering that the name should be appeal to a consumer via an evocative benefit.

If anyone has in.site (sic) let me know!

    Thanks!

    outside.in

…tell them the ‘in’ is short for innovation, and their company’s ‘in’ is focused on what happens in the outside – people’s gardens

That and the play on the more traditional ‘inside out’ should appeal to their lamentable lack of judgement

…either that or do the principled thing and fire them if they won’t listen to your perfectly correct emphasis on giving them something evocative that connects with their audience’s emotions rather than their own view of just how clever they are….

I like outside.in, @chris. I especially like your advice to fire their client, though since the client usually pays money, that probably won’t happen.
