Company Names

Public Group active 23 minutes ago

The name of your company should make a sudden impact, be memorable, and create buzz. If not, prepare to be eaten alive by the other companies that know how to brand themselves.

Post requests for company names as new topics in the Forum for this group.

After 25 years doing corporate events, we are peeling off the team building/leadership development work we do and starting another company for that work. The competitors in the space mostly have functional names – TeamBuilders, MyExecutiveCoach, etc. We want the name to be more evocative and even amusing. Thus far, our favorite names have been: Chrysalis (overused)
Isis (loved it, but it’s taken in this space)
we made up Zenrous (zen+generous). We like Zenrous for the meaning and the sound of saying it, but it seems so SERIOUS. Ugghh.
We are dying for some creative juice, and this seems like the perfect place to get it. Many thanks for any and all ideas.

Mind the Gap makes me smile – thank you very much Chris. One of my concerns with multiple word company names is the nasty tendency people have to turn it into an acronym. Our event company moved from Columbia Resource Group to CRG Events, and so I am concerned about this name morphing into MTG Communication. Yes, I could be better at acting as the brand police, and certainly Mind the Gap is much better on many levels than Columbia Resource Group was.
Just giving feedback in the hopes of continuing to inspire you!

The chances of that happening are reduced if the name itself is memorable – and would be reduced even further if you resist the temptation to add that extra word ‘communications’.
    …glad you like it, anyway
