Company Names

Public Group active 17 minutes ago

The name of your company should make a sudden impact, be memorable, and create buzz. If not, prepare to be eaten alive by the other companies that know how to brand themselves.

Post requests for company names as new topics in the Forum for this group.

Hi! I am starting a new consulting business helping employers manage today’s workforce. The idea is that while the workforce has changed dramatically in the last couple of decades (more women, more racial and ethnic minorities, more caregivers, new generational issues), the workplace and its policies have not changed to keep pace. I will help employers increase productivity and retention and avoid lawsuits by eliminating biases, increasing inclusion, and improving flexible scheduling.

I thought of “Changing Workforce Strategies, LLC” – with the thought that the workforce is changing and employers’ strategies need to change (and, of course, that I’m giving them strategies). But my colleagues have rejected it as too blah, “change” is scary, and it sounds like a topic for a panel discussion at a conference.

“FutureWork” is taken. Any thoughts on “Work Foresight”? Or “Level Field Consulting”?

I’m obviously bad with names. I would be grateful for any suggestions. Many thanks!

Wow – what a challenging and interesting naming project. But seriously, I think you’ve already nailed it with Level Field

Level Field is a very strong, compelling and effective name for such a business.

Early on, you could use Level Field Consulting, but then as the brand is established and your business broadens (or as soon as feasible) I would suggest dropping Consulting and go with Level Field on its own. Also, the LLC never has to be part of the branded, advertised name; you’ll still be an LLC. I don’t think LLC on the stationary side helps with any of the above names.

Changing Workforce (on its own) is not bad either, but I really think Level Field is strongest if available in your field. I prefer it to FutureWork for many reasons.

I came late to this (though no one else has beaten me to it). If you can provide feedback now, I’m happy to help brainstorm other suggestions or modifications…but I think you might be done already ;)

Anything you do that is more than a few syllables will wind up getting abbreviated into an acronym. So, Changing Workforce Strategies would become CWS – because spelling it out would be too long.

And I like to think about how it would sound in a sentence when one of your prospects is talking about you internally within their company. For example, if I was your prospective client, I might say to my boss, ”Let’s hire Changing Workforce Strategies.” When it comes out like that, in a conversational tone, the name doesn’t stand out – it sounds like I am just repeating a strategy. Try it out with someone and see if you can hear it.

    I like Level Field Consulting”.

    How about:
    ForwardFace, LLC
    ForwardFacing, LLC
    Future Strength, LLC
    WorkDiverse, LLC
    Diversity Directions, LLC
    PersonnelFusion, LLC
    PeopleFusion, LLC
    WorkplaceWarranty, LLC
    Reconstruction Policies, LLC
    ForwardConstruct, LLC

Thank you, Quark and Susan — I have still been struggling with this, but based on your much appreciated input, I think I will go with Level Field. Susan — thanks for raising the syllables aspect – I hadn’t thought of that!
