Company Names

Public Group active 5 hours, 38 minutes ago

The name of your company should make a sudden impact, be memorable, and create buzz. If not, prepare to be eaten alive by the other companies that know how to brand themselves.

Post requests for company names as new topics in the Forum for this group.

California Native Plant Garden Center – that’s a mouthful! (9 posts)

I am opening a California Native Plant Center – it will be a hybrid (excuse the pun) of plant sales, merchandise, events, special events and demonstration gardens. I am in the California Floristic Province, so the plants will all be from that region, and in San Diego in particular. There is already a California Native Plant Society and several nurseries with ”Sage”, ”Coastal Sage” and other names like that. I love using that sage green color and would love to have a name that refers to it, but haven;t come up with anything yet. The botanical name for sage is salvia, which could easily be misspelled as SALIVA (so I won’t be doing that) and the other plants have long, unfamiliar names: acrtostaphylos, ceanothus, artemesia.

I posted this in the wrong part of this site, so please forgive!

    Here are some ideas:

    Sage Haven
    Diego Sage
    CalVia

    Oooooh,

Sage Haven sounds good. So comforting.

Also, if I took Diego Sage and twisted it back into San Diego Sage – this would resonate with San Diegans because it is so alliterative with one of our two big universities: San Diego State. Can you hear that poetry?

CalVia sounds like something else here,,,will have to think about that one.

Thanks, Cynthia. This is fun, isn’t it?

Ah, but I do have brown eyes – what about Brown-Eyed Susan – or is this too “personal” and not enough about the business?

Sage Green Gardens is good – one of the misperceptions about native gardens is that they are not very green. And green is used in two senses, both of which are important to me: ecologically and plant color.

Sage Coach sounds good – but the old California stage coaches didn’t have much history here. I am going to research this.

Native Shade also sounds good. Or I could do Native Sage…
