To kick off this brand new forum, I’m going to post here this entry from Nov 6, 2009 and the subsequent replies through Feb 15, 2010, as it lead to a happy outcome and a suggested name being chosen. Great work, “werdnerd”, and everyone else who helped “vandscot” get a name.

As the title says; I Need help naming a 4 or 5 piece Indie/ Alternative Rock Band.
the parts are
Lead Singer/ Rhythm guitar 1
Lead Guitar
Bass
Drums
and possibly; Rhythm Guitar 2

We have been told the we sound like Coldplay, U2, Snow Partol, Eskimo Joe, Jet and Franz Ferdinand.

Please help, we’re desperate!!!

Does the band stand for anything? Take a stand on any issues?
What issues do each band member get involved with?
Are colours of any particular interest?
Are there particular names you like – not who you sound like, but like the band’s name, even if a different type of music?
Is there anything you hate? I presume if you were a christian band, then Devil’s 5 would be out?

The name really has to reflect you 5 and what has meaning for you all together. I could suggest fluffy fairy cakes, but somehow I don’t think that would be welcome You get my meaning.

We have some ideas; like Sabre Day, Steel Frame Anatomy, Questionable Tactics. In terms of colours there aren’t any of real importance, we don’t really get involved with issues, or at least not yet, and we are open to any suggestions. Also we are not religious.
