Help! We need suggestions for a management consultacy business. We will be in the business of ofering business services such as catering, human resources, and purchasing consultancy to our clients. The name needs to suggest one or more of the following: honesty, value for money, versatility, quality - and perhaps end in Management Services e.g Spook Management Services.

What is the benefit you are offering your clients? Money-saving? Better-trained people? ...and at the risk of sounding like a cracked record, what makes you different from all the other consultancies out there?

Thanks for the suggestions. Lots of ideas for us to chew over. The answer to the question on what differentiates us from our competitors the answer is in three areas. First, our large competitors tend to make their charges and therefore their invoices very complicated. This enables tham to hide additional profits from their clients in ways that many of their employees think are unethical. (We should know we were some of those employees!) Our stance is 'what you see is what you get' i.e. what the invoice shows to be our margin will be everything we earn and there will be no hidden extras. Second the 'big boys' tend to offer packages which clients must take in full when they may want variations. Ours is a more bespoke service. Third, to compete successfully against our smaller competitors we have access to a top, award winning chef who will help us to ensure that we deliver excellent food quality to our clients. Our larger competitors often have a top chef in tow but the small competitors don't. To summarise therefore, we are sure that we have a unique offer for our clients.

Spook Management| Our Fees Won't Scare Management
www.spookmanagement.com is available.
Spook is an interesting moniker. I don't know where you got it for your handle, but it's memorable. It's a slang word associated with investigation, as CIA agents are often called spooks. So, if you have a rational justification for using "spook" as a name, it could be a worthwhile brand for you. You'd have to be a credible, confident bunch to where that badge with pride, though.

Thanks a bunch for the many suggestions. Having been tempted by A La Carte for a while we have opted for a slight variation on one of Nosila's suggestions and have called our new company INTEGRA Management Solutions. Thanks once again to everyone for all their input. In answer to the question about my moniker - I wish I could say that I had a logical reason for using it - but it just popped into my head one day and I've been using it ever since. In the UK spook refers to ghosts and other scary stuff, so I'd rather not dwell on what that says about me!

INTEGRA Management Solutions has appeal, so it's not surprising that there are so many outfits around the world who have chosen that moniker for a variety of businesses.
You'll find that intuitive top level general domain names for Integra Management are mostly taken.
Fortunately, being in the UK, you have available, still:
www.integramanagement.co.uk www.integramanagment.co.uk
You'd be wise to register both spellings. A quick Google seach of each spelling confirms that both are in very common usage, rightly or wrongly.
Covering these domain situations ahead of time can be very important when prospective clients are looking for your website ... and when contacts are sending you email and you don't want email communications returned marked "address unknown" to your clients.

Unfortunately, "Integra" will not make your customers think that you have integrity, only that you have chosen a name that you think will make them think you have integrity. It is, I'm afraid, an empty vessel, with little branding potential to set you apart from all the other management consultants out there, let alone all the other Integras.
Also, the word "solutions" has been stripped of all meaning by the thousands of companies that claim to offer myriad solutions (see this).
I offer this as a warning: if you go with "INTEGRA Management Solutions," you will have a very difficult time getting your message heard, communicating that you are different from all the others, and having potential clients remember you.
Read this page about Naming -- it will help you think about this problem.

Hey Snark,
Do you trust Fiducial?
www.fiducial.com has the WinMedia TV commercial on the home page, if you haven't seen it a hundred times already.

fwiw, I think 'Integra' conjures up more of an association with 'integrated' than with 'integrity' - and maybe this is the link that spook is hoping to make.
I agree totally with the comments about the way that the word 'solutions' has been devalued, to the extent that it is now just a wallpaper word - and slightly mistrusted wallpaper at that (if you can mistrust wallpaper....)

Thanks for the advice - more food for thought - if you'll pardon the pun.
Our large competitors have nonsensical names that are difficult to remember e.g. Aramark, Sodhexo and they change the Company name and their brand names at very regular intervals too. How the clients remember who their caterer is I don't know. Our small competitors, who are ususlly set up initially by two partners, 99 times out of 100 will use the surnames of the founders e.g. Smith & Jones, when very few potential clients have heard of them. So, to a degree, by calling ourselves something other than our surnames should help make us stand out from the crowd. Continuing to ponder .....
