Congratulations Wordanista

A "tip of the hat" to Stephen Colbert for coining the word "wordanista" for the first episode of his regular segment of "The Wørd" when he introduced the concept of "truthiness" in this classic video clip from The Colbert Report on Comedy Central.

And a "wag of the finger" to Stephen Colbert's producers, who neglected to register the top level domain names for "wordanista" and "wordanistas" first. One prescient commenter on the Daily Kos observed:
Although the name Colbert sounds kinda Frenchy -- or worse, Quebecois -- I have to agree with the truth as well as the truthiness of this post. No matter which academic put this word in a paper, Colbert should be recognized as its foremost user.

Likewise, I'm waiting patiently for the wordanistas to recognize the word "wordanista". Or at least, I'm waiting for them to co-opt it as well.
As Benjamin Zimmer at Language Log said, "Maybe another successful neologism will emerge from all of this. I myself am quite fond of wordanista and will probably be using it for a long time to come."

Congratulations to the lucky copywriter who stumbled into the Wordboard Forum on Wordlab a couple of days ago looking for a good name for her business.
